Starting in 1997, AT&T and Virginia Tech have partnered to create the Center for Scientific Visualization of Organizations, which is housed in the R. B. Pamplin College of Business under the Department of Management.

The Center is envisioned as an “idea generator” to provide cutting-edge, applied research and analysis on new visualization, organizational, and statistical techniques that are relevant to AT&T, the telecommunications industry, and businesses in general.

In order to improve organizational effectiveness, the following types of visualization can be applied:
